Our role starts before an aircraft ever leaves the ground. Creating Space for Pets Displaced by Disasters

One of the most important parts of our disaster response strategy is protecting the opportunity for lost pets to be reunited with their families.

Wings of Rescue does not transport pets that entered a shelter because of a disaster until they have been held for at least 30 days, giving owners time to locate and reunite with their animals.

Instead, we can transport pets that were already legally available for adoption before the disaster occurred. Moving these animals to trusted receiving shelters creates urgently needed kennel space for newly displaced pets while allowing adoptable animals to continue their journeys toward permanent homes.

This approach supports both animal rescue and family reunification during an emergency.

Veterinary Relief During Disasters

Animal disasters create needs far beyond transportation.

When Wings of Rescue flies into affected communities, our aircraft can arrive carrying critical veterinary and humanitarian supplies before departing with pets in need of transport.

Depending on conditions on the ground, aid may include:

Veterinary disaster response is also integrated into our animal transportation protocols. Pets transported by Wings of Rescue must meet established medical requirements, including health certificates issued by USDA-certified veterinarians.
